Our name is enough. I-DESIRE stands for IITians Developing Effective Strategy, Intensity, and Re-Believing through their Experience.
Our Aims and Objectives are as follows:
• Help Underprivilaged : To ensure that every talented but underprivilaged student gets an opportunity to compete with his better off peers.To ensure that he/she is not left out due to lack of information,right guidance , motivation and coaching from good teachers.
• Communicate: Aspirants get to meet IITians studying at IITs as well as some who are working in Industry in India and abroad.
• Motivate: Aspirants are motivated by taking them to a virtual tour of IITs. This is achieved by showing them short video films on various IITs. Meeting successful people from their own cities who grew up in similar environment and faced similar difficulties is a fervent dream of any aspirant. Nothing can motivate them better than this.
• Strategy: Strategies to crack this exam are discussed by people who have proved themselves by getting into IITs. Team of IITians has pooled and worked to perfect these strategies based on their experience. Who else could do this better?
• Re-Believing: Bihar has a history of abysmally low selection rate in IITJEE. This has created a environment where there is lot of frustration and dissatisfaction among students. We want to crack on this and make them re-believe in themselves. We want to empower them with essential skill and strategies to crack this examination.
All of the above Aims and Objectives are met and implemented through our workshops. At the end of the workshop we select students on the basis of a two hour written examination. Financial condition of the student's family forms a major criteria in the selection process. These students are provided free coaching by the best teachers in the town. I-DESIRE team would visit them ocassionally during vacations and guide them. The results have been remarkable. In 2007 out of 34 selected students 16 qualified in IIT JEE. Others are expecting good results in other competitive examinations.
